Seán C. Martin provides independent expert neurosurgical opinion across a broad range of conditions, informed by current consultant practice and extensive clinical and academic experience.
AREAS OF EXPERTISE
GENERAL NEUROSURGERY
Independent opinion on general neurosurgical conditions and their management, where appropriate to Seán's clinical experience and expertise.
FUNCTIONAL NEUROSURGERY
Specialist opinion in functional and epilepsy neurosurgery, including deep brain stimulation, epilepsy surgery, spinal cord stimulation, neuromodulation and the surgical management of spasticity. This includes indications for treatment, procedural and device-related complications, outcomes and future treatment requirements.
SPINAL NEUROSURGERY
Independent opinion on common spinal neurosurgical conditions, including degenerative spinal disease, disc prolapse, spinal stenosis, radiculopathy and cauda equina syndrome, together with their management, prognosis and future treatment requirements.
NEUROTRAUMA
Independent opinion on traumatic brain injury, including neurosurgical management, the consequences of injury, prognosis and future treatment requirements.
MEDICOLEGAL INSTRUCTIONS
Seán accepts instructions for independent neurosurgical opinion, including condition and prognosis, causation, and the assessment of current and future neurosurgical treatment needs.
Instructions are welcomed from claimant and defendant solicitors, and he is happy to discuss the suitability of individual cases prior to instruction.
EXPERT WITNESS PRACTICEEXPERT WITNESS TRAINING
Seán has undertaken formal expert witness training with Bond Solon, including the Excellence in Report Writing and Courtroom Skills courses.
He is currently working towards expert witness accreditation through the Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) and Aberdeen University Bond Solon (AUBS) programmes.
